Rebirth – New York, May 2025

Montserrat Contemporary Art, Chelsea, New York · 2–31 May 2025

In May 2025 I took part in Rebirth, a group exhibition of ten artists curated by Stefania Carrozzini at Montserrat Contemporary Art in New York, in collaboration with MyMicroGallery.

I showed two original works from my new series, The Etheric Field Series: No. 1 and No. 2, oil and paper collage, 30 × 40 cm, 2025.

In this new series of small, delicate oil collages, I investigate the ideas around Rebirth. I metaphorically explore the intricate dance of weaving through layers, patterns and folds the etheric substance of thought forms. The etheric web connects our souls to the world; as we go in and transform, etheric threads reach out, enhancing the beauty of the fields we inhabit. Each piece is crafted from delicate fragments of recycled fine paper, remnants of larger oil paintings. These intertwined elements symbolise a journey of rebirth, echoing original inspirations while emerging as something new.

Though they may appear simple at first glance, these collages embody a profound narrative, a testament to transformation and hope. Like offshoots of a parent idea, they invite viewers to discover the beauty that arises when the past is woven into the present.

Stefania’s curatorial text describes rebirth as a cycle of transformation, a threshold between what was and what can be, and sees art itself as an act of renewal: a way of turning loss or inertia into something that vibrates with new life.
